We are delighted to announce an extraordinary cultural collaboration that unites Italy, Argentina (and Algeria) in the name of art and social commitment against all forms of discrimination and bullying.
The theatrical performance “Ambiciosa Rosa de la estepa”, written and directed by Jaquelina Castro, will feature as a fundamental contribution the song “Her Dream (a song for Imane Khelif)”, composed by Maeve, an Italian singer and co-founder of our cultural association, Art-Waves.
From Patagonia, a story of struggle and hope.
The play will debut on December 18 at 9:00 PM (local time in Argentina) at the Teatro Polivalente de Arte in Río Gallegos, Santa Cruz, Argentina. It tells the story of Rosa, a woman who challenges stereotypes, prejudices, and social difficulties to fulfill her dream. Set in a marginalized neighborhood of Patagonia, the story follows Rosa in a pivotal moment of her life, as she embarks on a journey of empowerment that enables her to overcome bullying and injustice.
Jaquelina Castro, actress, director, and playwright, drew inspiration from the challenges faced by Algerian boxer Imane Khelif during the recent Paris 2024 Olympics. The play addresses themes such as struggle, resilience, discrimination, women’s and minorities’ rights, making it a powerful social testimony.
We are proud that the song “Her Dream (a song for Imane Khelif)”, composed by Maeve, has been chosen as an integral part of the performance. This piece, celebrating strength, courage, and hope, aligns perfectly with the central themes of the play. With her artistic sensitivity and strong commitment on social issues, Maeve has captured the essence of Imane Khelif’s fight, transforming it into a universal anthem of resilience and hope.
A cultural bridge between Italy, Patagonia and Algeria.
This wonderful collaboration demonstrates the power of art to break down barriers and build cultural bridges. As a cultural association, we are proud to support such an important project that ideally connects some geographically distant realities, yet united by a shared vision of justice and equality.
The collaboration with Jaquelina Castro represents a precious opportunity to foster deep and meaningful cultural dialogue, reinforcing our commitment to fighting injustice and discrimination through the power of music.
Let yourself be moved by this extraordinary story of struggle and hope!
We enthusiastically and proudly support this initiative, confident that art can truly change the world, one story at a time.
